On TRT day 10, we woke early to catch the sunrise over Tahoe and it did not disappoint as we sat podgy faced from sleep sipping hot tea and absorbing the sun’s first early rays.
The hike down to Tahoe was scheduled to be one of our longest. Since we were ahead of schedule (again) and we had an earlier than usual start, we made relatively short work of the long knee troubling descent and were back in civilization once more.
We wolfed down a delicious lunch at the Bridgetender Tavern and then inspected the map outside the tourist information, marveling at how far we’d come. And, recognizing that tomorrow would mark the ‘home’ leg of our journey. We resupplied at Save Mart and Alpine Sports before checking into ‘America’s Best Value Inn’. A wash, nap and swim in the pool later, we headed out for the evening. Slim finally touched the Lake we’d been circling for the last 10 days.
Dinner was a disappointment, Moe’s BBQ closed earlier than expected and the staff at the nearby Christy Hill caused us to ask for the check after the appetizer.
A few too many drinks and games of cards later we were asleep.
