The Evenk hitch or Siberian hitch is a great, non-slip quick release knot. Given that it is so easy to release, it is perfect for tying a non-adjustable line to a hammock or tarp. This knot is the easiest knot to tie, so practice a few times. What makes this hitch great is that it holds a load well and releases easily. Care needs to be taken when cinching/dressing the knot. Another key benefit of this knot is that it can be easily tied with cold or even gloved hands. The Evenk hitch can be considered as a quick release alternate to the figure 8.
