The Big Agnes UL1 tent is an ultralight 1 person tent.
At just 2.1 lbs, this is a fantastically light tent – especially since it is free standing. Only the small vestibule area (big enough for a pack and boots) needs to be secured by a stake (lightweight ones included), rock or handy vegetation. When you feel the material it DAC Featherlite nylon seems implausibly fragile, however, I can attest to its durability. The tent uses a single pole system and so all the individual sections are ready to snap together. I’m a shade under 6 feet tall and I had room to put a bag of clothing at the foot end and still have plenty of headroom. This is not a tent to stand in, however, kneeling is possible. The guidelines shine brightly back from torchlight (see below) and there are 2 side pockets and one larger overhead pocket. I’ve seen some reviews suggesting this is ok for 2 and snug for 3 people, I think their SKUs are confused. Unless you plan to spoon all night, this is a single person tent. We used this tent on our TRT – Through Hike and it held up very well.
The Big Agnes UL1 award-winning Fly Creek tents have been redesigned with steep wall architecture and a vertical door to maximize floor and headspace. These features create more livable space so you can be more comfortable in the backcountry. Fly Creek, HV UL models have 25% more space in the head and shoulders, and 10% more in the foot box. The dry entry brow and 7 sq. ft. vestibule keeps your gear dry in rough weather. All of the weatherproof and technical features of a three-season tent, and with ultralight materials to keep the Fly Creek your go-to, easy to set up shelter when you need to pack ultralight.
